'A Naca

'A Naca is a religious event that takes place in Catanzaro on Holy Friday. In the streets of the old town parade  the congregations of the main churches in town: the SS. Rosary, Our Lady of Mount Caramel, St. John and the SS.Immacolata. Participants are bound by a religious vow. The procession has its origins in the Spanish domination of the city in 1600. "Naca" derives from the greek word "nachè" which means the cradle, and indicates the sedan on which parades the statue of Jesus laid.

'A Naca è una manifestazione religiosa che si svolge a Catanzaro il Venerdì Santo. Nelle vie del centro storico cittadino sfilano le congreghe delle chiese principali della città: il SS. Rosario, la Madonna del Carmelo, la SS.Immacolata e San Giovanni. I partecipanti sono legati da un voto religioso. La processione ha origine nella dominazione spagnola della città del 1600. La parola Naca deriva dal greco "nachè" che significa culla, e indica la portantina su cui sfila la statua di Gesù deposto.
